Consumer Price Index for the
Month of January, 1999 |
The Department of Statistics and Research
announces that the Consumer Price Index for January, 1999 decreased by 0,81 units or 0,65
per cent to 123,03 units compared to 123,84 in the previous month. This is mainly due to
decreases in the prices of certain clothing and footwear items due to sale discounts as
well as to decreases in the prices of certain fresh fruit and vegetables.
2. The average rate of increase of the Index for the last twelve months
(i.e. February 1998-January 1999) compared to the preceding twelve months (i.e. February
1997-January 1998) was 2,24%.
3. The Index of January 1999 compared to the Index of January 1998
showed an increase of 2,18%. |
