Consumer Price Index for the Month of January, 2001

The Consumer Price Index for January 2001 decreased by 1,91 units or 1,77% to 105,96 units compared to 107,87 in December 2000. This is mainly due to decreases in the prices of certain clothing, footwear and furnishing items due to sale discounts as well as to reductions in the prices of petroleum products, certain fresh vegetables and potatoes. An increase was recorded in the price of local telephone calls.

2. The rate of increase of the Index for January 2001 compared to January 2000 was 1,44%.
