In 1974 a great crime against society was committed. Turkey invaded the small island of Cyprus. With immense barbarosity the invaders killed thousands of people, performed other atrocious crimes and left 200,000 people refugees up to the present. One of those persons was myself. At the age of 3, I was taken with force away from my house and my village. Today,Katokopia lies on the green line as they call it, a line that attempts to separate people from their memories. A line of shame whose only purpose is to enforce the division of Cyprus, the separation of people that have many more things in common than differences. The Greek and Turkish Cypriots live separately not because they chose to, I want to believe, but because the strong and the powerful of this planet decided so.
