Location

Lefkoniko is situated in the North Eastern Mesaoria, the largest plain in Cyprus. The land of Lefkoniko extends from the foot of the Pentadaktylos mountain range to the north to the center of the Mesaoria plain to the south. The average altitude of Lefkoniko is 65m reaching 200m to the north. The land around Lefkoniko is irrigated from North to the South by the torrents Gerokolimbo, Haragga, Krio and Siezia.

The town is just 25 Km (15 miles) from Famagusta and 50 Km from Nicosia.

Parishes-Churches

The town is divided into two parishes the "pano enoria" upper parish of Archangellos Michael church and "kato enoria" the lower parish of Sotiros church. Apart form the above two parishes and their churches there are also other churches like the church of Stavrou (Church of the Cross) and the Chapels which encircle Lefkoniko like St. George, St. Phokas, St. Zoni, St. Theodore, and Prophet Elias.

Lefkoniko is a town which played a leading role in Cyprus both in the cultural and economy sectors and its history can be traced back to 5000 BC. Some examples include Vasilis Michailides, the national poet of Cyprus and the first cooperative bank in Cyprus
