Primary suspect: Turkish antiquity smuggler Aydin Dikmen. A lot of pieces of frescoes were found on his possession in Germany and are now under the Munich Police custody.

15th century A.D. icon of Virgin Mary sitting on her throne. Despotic icon from the iconostasis of the Antiphonitis Greek Orthodox church in occupied Kalogrea village in Kyrenia. It was removed from the iconostasis along with the despotic icon of Jesus Christ sitting on his throne. It was sold in London in the black market by Turkish smugglers and later located in Athens. It was returned back in Cyprus 14 September 1998.

The following photos show pieces of frescoes from the Antiphonitis Greek Orthodox Church. They were found in the possession of Turkish Antiquity smuggler or Greek religious and archaeological treasures Aydin Dikmen. Some of them returned back to Cyprus, while others are still in the custody of foreign police enforcement agencies.
