Consumer Price Index for the Month of April, 2000

The Consumer Price Index for May 2000 increased by 0,41 units or 0,39% to 106,06 units compared to 105,65 in April 2000. This is mainly due to increases in the prices of certain fresh fruit and electricity. A decrease was recorded in the prices of certain fresh vegetables and potatoes.

2. The average rate of increase of the Index for the period January-May 2000 compared to the corresponding period of the previous year was 4,54%.

3. The average rate of increase of the Index for the last twelve months (i.e. June 1999 - May 2000) compared to the preceding twelve months (i.e. June 1998 - May 1999) was 2,91%.
