Ancient Greek!

When Greek people read Ancient Greek do they prounounce everything in the modern Greek way or in the ancient way, as they try to do in other languages.

i.e., do I pronounce "auto" as "afto" or "auto"??

I have decided I need to learn ancient greek (this is why)

Contemporary Greeks when reading ancient texts pronounce them according to Modern pronunciation.

That's what I thought (from our pronunciation of Biblical Greek in Church, at least)...Thank you!

I think there is a real benefit to that; namely, you can more easily adapt the ancient Greek roots to supplement your understanding of the modern language, when you are pronouncing the words the same.
