adjective types

  Geia sas,

Can anyone direct me to a discussion dealing with adjective types other than -os?

I am confused about adjectives ending in -υς, such as βαθύς, but I cannot find the discussion on these adjectives! (I forget how to decline this type of adjective in the plural!)

Thanks!!
Victoria

  Γειά σας Victoria,

I'll try to help you. Adjectives as βαθύς end in -ύς for masculine, -ιά for feminine and for neuter. So, the endings are -ύς, -ιά, -ύ. Ηere is a declination for this type of adjective in singular and plural.

Singular

Masculine
Ονομ. -ύς
Γεν. -ιού / -ύ
Αιτ. -ύ

Feminine
Ονομ. -ιά
Γεν. -ιάς
Αιτ. -ιά

Neuter
Ονομ. -ύ
Γεν. -ιού / -ύ
Αιτ. -ύ

Plural

Masculine
Ονομ. -ιοί
Γεν. -ιών
Αιτ. -ιούς

Feminine
Ονομ. -ιές
Γεν. -ιών
Αιτ. -ιές

Neuter
Ονομ. - ιά
Γεν. -ιών
Αιτ. -ιά

In adjective βαθύς the base is βαθ- and if you want to decline it you just add these endings.

Χαιρετισμοί,
Dragana
