We are not learning any dialect, we are learning (fairly) modern Greek. We are missing out on some recent language developments, like words used for everything computer related eg for 'internet' etc as the tapes are quite old.

Not surprising, since the course was recorded on Cyprus in the mid-1960s by the Cyprus Broadcasting Corp (CyBC) from a textbook and radio script written there by Leonidas Koullis, a leading Cypriot educator of that time.

Perhaps your mum could give you specifics of exactly which words or expressions are Cypriot, and you could post it here in reply?
