About MIM

The Mediterranean Institute of Management (MIM) was established in 1976. It constitutes the international component of the Cyprus Productivity Centre, a department of the Ministry of Labour and Social Insurance.

The Cyprus Productivity Centre (CPC) was established in 1963 by the Cyprus Government, with assistance from the United Nations Development Program and the International Labour Office; the relevant cooperation agreement expired on 30th November, 1974, and the Government has since taken over completely the operation of the Centre. CPC's long term objective is to assist private and public organizations to utilize their human and capital resources in the best possible manner, with a view to increasing their productivity.

The CPC offers training, consultancy and advice in all areas of management as well as vocational training and technical advice in various trades.  It also undertakes research projects.

The MIM provides high quality management education for existing or future managers through the Post-Graduate Management Diploma Program.  Also, responding to requests from abroad it organizes short up-grading "package" programs and seminars in all fields of management designed to satisfy specific training needs of private and public organizations. It also undertakes research and management consultancy projects.

The Post-Graduate Management Diploma Program

This Post-Graduate Diploma Program offers participants of a variety of backgrounds the opportunity to prepare themselves for a managerial career.  Its overall objective is to provide the participants with a sound framework of concepts, analytical methods and techniques, which will enable them to execute effectively their managerial duties.

Three features characterize the program. First, a comprehensive and integrated sequence of units designed to provide management knowledge and skills. Second, the company visits and on the job training offered as part of the program aiming  at enhancing the competence and skills necessary for career development. Third, the opportunity to specialise in a particular field of interest and to undertake a project to develop the participants' own interest in terms of their future career path.

Recognition of the MIM Post-Graduate Diploma

  • The Cyprus Government, by decision of the Council of Ministers in June, 1987, recognized the MIM Diploma as a Post-Graduate qualification in management studies, of one academic year's duration, for employment purposes in the Public Service.
  • The University of Birmingham recognizes the MIM Diploma as equivalent to the first year of its two-year Master of Business Administration Program, and offers the MIM graduates admission to its second year.
